The study highlights the shared ideological themes between these texts, tracing the development of Iqbal’s thought from its early philosophical formulation to its mature political expression. Central to both works is the affirmation of a distinct Muslim identity, the articulation of Islamic nationalism and the call for the revival of the Muslim Ummah. The study argues that Millat-e-Beiza serves as both a conceptual and literary precursor to the Allahabad Address, establishing the foundational ideas that would later culminate in the demand for Pakistan. Iqbal’s use of symbolic language, rhetorical strategy and ideological framing reflects a convergence of literary style and political conviction. This paper contributes to Urdu literary scholarship by demonstrating how Iqbal’s work functions as a vehicle for socio-political transformation and ideological continuity.
This research paper critically explores the portrayal of the individual's inner agony in Mansha Yaad' short story collection “Mass aur Matti". Recognized for his deep psychological insight and socio-cultural engagement, Mansha Yaad intricately crafts characters who grapple with existential dilemmas, emotional isolation, and the burdens of societal expectations. Through a symbolic and realistic narrative style, his stories depict the silent suffering of individuals caught between tradition and modernity, personal desires and collective responsibilities. This study analyses selected short stories from the collection, focusing on how the author employs imagery, metaphor, and internal monologue to expose the fractured inner world of his characters. The paper also examines the thematic resonance of alienation, memory, and identity crisis, situating Mansha Yaad’ work within the broader context of modern Urdu fiction. The research aims to highlight how his fiction serves as both a mirror and a critique of contemporary individual existence, making his work profoundly relevant to the discourse on the psychology of the self in literature.
This article explores the unique approach of Dr. Wazir Agha in incorporating personal allusions in his essays, showcasing his distinctive perspective on life and creativity. From philosophical perspective, it denotes a vision of the condition and existence of man, his place and function in the world, and his relationship, or lack of relationship with world and God. Modern existentialism is mainly attributed to the pertinent notions of Seren Kierkegaard (1813-55), a Danish philosopher; its main emphasis lies in the existence of individual as free and self-determining agent. The influence of Existentialism can be seen in different disciplines, including literature. In the genre of novel and drama for instance, the impact of modern existentialism became obvious in the writing of Jean-Paul Sartre. In Urdu literature, particularly in fiction, its impact can be seen in the writing of Dr. Anwar Sajad. If on one hand, he is recognized for symbolism and modern tendencies, his fiction is equally characterized by modern existentialism. The present study critically analyzes his novel ۔ Findings reveal the influence of the philosophical wave of modern Existentialism. Since the existentialist can be characterized through his/her capacity of facing anxiety, pursuing authenticity and recuperation of death, similar tendencies are evident in the novel. The study explored motifs such as alienation, quest for self-discovery, portrayal of naked realities of life, uncertainties in life, over-reliance on science and information technology as the dilemma of modern era, and colonial hegemony and otherness as global realities confronting human in different forms. These components of modern Existentialism greatly question the existence of human and make him question his own existence in the modern era. The study offers novel and deep insights of modern existentialism before readers. Finally, this attempt of critically appreciating Anwar Sajad’s ---- through the lens of existentialism and discussing the inwards and subjective aspects of human can greatly enhance and enrich the comprehension of readers and make a worthy contribution to the body of research on Urdu fiction, criticism and Urdu literature at large.
This article examines how 21st-century Urdu novelists – including Sohail Parwaz, Hameed Shahid, Aqila Saleem, Bashir Ahmed, and Khalid Fateh Muhammad – deploy innovative narrative techniques (fragmented timelines, multiple voices, symbolic landscapes) to confront the unresolved trauma of the 1971 East Pakistan Tragedy (Fall of Dhaka). Their narratives critically engage with the brutal military conflict between the Pakistan Army and the Mukti Bahini, alongside the potent Bengali freedom movement, which culminated in Dhaka's fall. Moving beyond historical chronicle, their fiction interrogates the deep psychological scars, collective guilt, and identity crises stemming from these events. These novels serve as vital spaces for challenging dominant narratives, exposing suppressed historical truths, and processing the nation's enduring sociopolitical wounds. Through their work, the authors reveal how 1971 continues to fracture Pakistani consciousness and provoke urgent reflection on state violence, historical accountability, and the precarious nature of nationhood across the subcontinent.
Although many books and articles have been written on the art and profession of translation and the challenges that an interpreter faces during delivering quality translation, but i this paper discusses the technical problems of translation that are faced by Persian and Urdu translators in everyday translations.
