Call for Papers for the Issue 2025

Dear Colleagues

Greetings from Peshawar!

You will be pleased to know that we are going to bring out the next volume (XXXVI/2025) of Ancient Pakistan, a double-blind peer reviewed journal published by the Department of Archaeology, University of Peshawar. The journal was founded by the late Professor Ahmad Hasan Dani in 1964 and has been published regularly since then. It provides an established academic platform for keen researchers and faculty members to publish their fresh and original research papers, reports of field investigations and book reviews for a wide circulation with the scholarly sphere across the globe.

We would like to invite you to contribute to the upcoming volume of Ancient Pakistan (Vol. XXXVI/2025), which is planned to be published in December 2025. The manuscript may cover any aspect of:

  1. Art, Architecture and Iconography (Buddhist/Hindu/Jain),
  2. Epigraphy, Ancient Writing systems and Languages of South Asia,
  3. Ancient and Mediaeval Coinage,
  4. Ancient religious systems, Ancient and Mediaeval Literary Sources (manuscripts, genealogies, eulogies, travelogues),
  5. Stone and Bronze Age Archaeology, Environmental Archaeology, Funerary Archaeology,
  6. Field Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, Cultural Heritage, and Museum Studies,
  7. Role of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the promotion of Tourism industry,
  8. Management and Marketing of Cultural Tourism in Pakistan,
  9. Muslim Art (including calligraphy, painting and design) and Architecture (sacred and secular),
  10. Cultural and Political History (ancient, mediaeval and late periods),
  11. Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage,
  12. Ceramic Technology, Ethno-Archaeology, Tool technology, etc.,
  13. In addition, the journal also considers research articles on intangible heritage to save the fast vanishing cultural and ethnological traditions of Pakistan.

You are requested to send your research paper (both in pdf and world file) to the Editor by October 30, 2025. We would appreciate your efforts and encouragement for keeping Ancient Pakistan up in terms of its quality contents.
