Publication Policy

Ancient Pakistan is a peer-reviewed annual journal of the Department of Archaeology, University of Peshawar, founded by the late Professor Ahmad Hasan Dani, in 1964. It has earned international standard in the field of Archaeology and provides a platform for the scholars to contribute their research work and fresh discoveries made in the fields of archaeology, art, architecture, numismatics, epigraphy, history, linguistics, civilizations, ancient religious systems etc. of Pakistan and the neighbouring regions.

The journal has editorial and advisory boards comprising specialists and professionals working in diverse fields of Archaeology for their expert opinion and comments on the research papers.

Frequency of Publication

The journal Ancient Pakistan is published annually (single volume) by the Department of Archaeology, University of Peshawar, through OJS based system maintained by the University of Peshawar.

Timeline of publication

The journal is published in December each year and is accessible to the readers on the journal’s URL.

Authorship of the paper

The research papers are contributed by a single author or several authors, the first being the principal author. The journal strictly encourages authorship of the part of the contribution in the research paper in case of co-authors. The Principal/Corresponding author is required to frequently keep in touch with the editorial staff and will be responsible for copyright issues of the data he/she submitted to Ancient Pakistan.

Originality and plagiarism policy

The contents of the submitted papers are processed through the plagiarism check. The originality of the contents is strictly adhered to keeping in view the standard of the journal and the HEC Plagiarism Criteria.

Peer review policy

The journal publishes only papers processed through its strict double-blind peer-review policy. All the papers are sent to one national and two or more international reviewers for evaluation. The editor/editorial board reserves the right to accept or reject a paper based on the comments of the reviewers.

Article publication fee

Currently, the journal does not claim any processing/publishing fee from the author(s) and provides a copy of the published journal in soft to the single or principal author (as the case may be).

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

The editor does not take any responsibility for the ideas expressed by the author(s) in the paper, which is treated as the sole responsibility of the contributor(s). The principal/corresponding author will be required to produce a certificate to the effect that he/she has used his/her own data.

Corrections and retractions of research articles

The editor sends the comments/corrections suggested by the reviewers to the author to incorporate and submit a revised version of the submission for consideration. The revised paper is sometimes sent back to the reviewer(s) for a second opinion to know if the suggested changes have been incorporated appropriately.

Policy and Principles on Research Data

The ownership lies with the author. For reproduction, written permission from the editor is required.

Contribution of each author with details

The corresponding author will provide details of the contents of the paper as to which part of the work is contributed by the respective co-author(s). In addition, he/she will also provide affiliation address with email and ORCID IDs.
