Abstract:
Doha is something like “Matla” –opening couplet 0f a ghazal- characterized with spontaneity set in a particularly simplistic and pastoral life. Both of its lines rhyme with each other and they balance in weight. Doha enjoys a peculiar field of relevance. A definite form, specific inference and dedicated language make integral parts of a Doha. This beautiful genre of literature flourished in the hands of religious enthusiasts like Sofis, Sunnats, and Saadhus. However, this progress of Doha is heavily indebted to an all-times-active institution of our society called theatre proper.
Khawaja dil Muhammad played the most important role in the proclamation of "Doha" after the creation of Pakistan. His collection "Peet Ki Reet" was published in the specific tone of Doha. Later a book of Jameel o din aali came forward after some time. He made it famous and progressed it through "Mushairas". Many more poets came on the scene through his ignition and Doha got renowned in the sub-continent. Also some changes accrued in its formation. Dr. Faraz Hamidi and Dr. Manazir Harganvi promoted it by mingling it with other genres of literature. Doha poetry of three poets, Dr. Tahir Saeed Haroon and Mohsin Maleeh Abadi has been made topic of this article in particular. It has been tried to depict that the scope of Doha is powerful and this genere will continue to exist with importance in the future.
