Abstract

 Zaitoon Bano is a prolific Pushto writer. She earned immense repute for her realistic  depictions of life in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She is a great exponent of Pushtun mindset and its various sensibilities. Her main focus in short stories is the class struggle among various Pushtun tribes and facilities and the ensuing ills and evils. She cuts through the apparent vanities of Pushtuns to disclose their deeply-rooted customs and rites, traditions and rituals, follies and foibles, likes and dislikes, and above all their stubbornness to uphold their centuries old pride at the altar of universal fraternal sentiment.
