The vocabulary of each language is stored in the form of a dictionary Which becomes part of the language through the poetic and prose creations and diction of the native speakers. The process of language growth and expansion leads to an increase in vocabulary. An overview of vocabulary in a language comes from a variety of contexts. The process of writing is also a link in the same chain. Scribes are responsible for clarifying existing words and new entrants in the language. In this case, word accumulation and word registration is the first step, which is very demanding and difficult. Screening and selection for a single word is a difficult step, followed by a step of determining the meaning of the words which is not easy for the scribe because even in determining its meaning from teachers and linguists. You have to go back and sometimes even guess work. Then the recitation of words can also lead to difficulty which the scribe encounters. In addition, the source language of the words, the grammatical status and the morphological nature and the problems of the masculine gender also add to the difficulties of the scribe. In this article, well-known Urdu dictionaries are being examined under the same issues and difficulties. These are the dictionaries that discuss the word and the meaning directly. Besides, what kind of literary and linguistic terms do these dictionaries have. The vocabulary of these dictionaries, word entries, explanation of meaning, memoirs, rules and other issues will be reviewed.
