Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Indian culture is known as the richest culture in the world and Hindus celebrate these religious festivals throughout the whole year. Basically, these festivals include different religious ceremonies, worship, dance, music, prayer, food, traditional dresses and other activities.  Most of these festivals are based upon the mythological and religious stories which are associated with many Hindu gods, goddesses and important personalities of religion. Hindus believes that the original purpose of these festivals is to purify their inner soul and to strengthen their relationship with their gods and goddess. In this article, important and most celebrated festivals of Hindu culture have been discussed in detail. Some important festivals are Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Holi, Durga Puja, Naag Panchami, Shivratari, Lohri, Raksha Bandhan, KarvaChauth, RathYatra, KumbhMela etc. These festivals bring harmony and brotherhood among the masses of the country.
