ABSTRACT
Genre of Ghazal as it is flourished in Urdu literature is distinct for its representation of stray thoughts, collective sensibility and symbolism. This features though main reason of its beauty and acceptance, but at same time could be termed as main culprits that hinder its communication. Since in terms of quantity Ghazal is perhaps outnumbers all other genres in Urdu poetry, it is part of all curricula in schools, colleges and in post-graduate courses of Urdu. This short seminar paper is consist of four parts: first two being theoretical in nature that try to review particular issues related to teaching of Urdu literature and; analysis of the objectives cited in the Urdu curricula for teaching Ghazal and its logic. Third part of the paper discuss the practices of teaching Ghazal at Schools and Colleges, and Universities level. The paper ends with general and specific theoretical, as well as practical recommendations.
