Abstract

ABSTRACT
Symbolism is one of the significant characteristics of poetry. The characteristics that are attributed to a symbol may or may not be accurate. But a symbol is chosen to represent the qualities which are expressions of the ideals in that culture. Throughout the ages, Eagle had remained a symbol of power, strength, freedom and elegance due to its remarkable strength, large size, nomadic style, striking visage, graceful flight and courage. It cannot be denied that the eagle upholds its magnificence and grandeur even in the modern times.  Iqbal has used the eagle to symbolize the character of young Muslim. He wanted to see these qualities in the lives of young Muslims. There is no doubt that Iqbal has used this symbol in a really inspiring style. This study is an attempt to analyze Iqbal’s poetry in this perspective
