Abstract

In literary world, Asad Muhammad Khan needs no introduction. He is a well-known fiction writer. There is no doubt that he has written so many beautiful short stories and some of them have been generously praised by various critics. In spite of this, he is also an excellent poet, lyricist, sketch writer, travel writer and translator. He has also received praise for his literary translations from many legends (of literary world). He was inclined towards translation since his student days. He continued to publish his translations in various literary magazines and digests along with creating fiction. His translations include translations of fiction from Russian, Afrikaans, Hindi, English and other languages. Like a professional translator, he followed all the rules of the art of translation and wherever he felt the need, he himself made quality additions in these rules. He has full command on both Urdu and English languages, so he skillfully translated these short stories. He does not encroach in the original text and do not alter the basic essentials like plot and characters from his side. However, where he felt the need to explain the meaning in simple words, then he has made it easier for the readers. He gives priority to continuity and smoothness in his translations and he has used his best art wherever artistically required
