An autobiography is a true and faithful account by an author of all the events and experiences that he or she may have gone through in his or her lifetime. But it is , and should not be, limited to the external events or incidents one has witnessed or been part of. Rather, it should be a candid expression of the writer's internal feelings and emotions, experiences, worldview, and outlook on the various aspects of life.Interestingly, most of the autobiographies in Urdu are of political nature. But whatever the motive behind penning these books may have been, the fact remains that they have proved to be reliable and faithful records changes and developments in our literature, language, history, politics, society, and a score of other walks of life. Political autobiographies and memoirs are also important for the wealth of disclosures and revelations they have. Almost all political writers have revealed truths about themselves, the state, governments, and their contemporaries, access to which would otherwise have been impossible. Seen from this aspect, the importance of political autobiographies increases manifold.
