Abstract

Children literature is a timeless tradition. Books are the major means of transmitting our literature heritage from one generation to the next. Children’s literature is valuable in providing an opportunity to respond to literature, as well as emotional intelligence and creativity, cultural knowledge, social and personality development. Giving children access to all varieties of literature is extremely important for their success. Literature provides an avenue for children to learn about their own cultural heritage and the cultures of other people. Children literature contains numerous moments of crises, when characters make moral decisions and contemplate the reasons of their decisions. Literature helps the children to develop emotional intelligence. Stories have the power to promote emotional and moral development. Exposing children to quality literature can contribute to the creation of responsible, successful and caring individual.
