Abstract

ABSTRACT Habib Jalib was a great figure of resistance in the last four decades of 20th century against the two Martial laws of Pakistan’s history which were faced by the people of this soil. He was imprisoned several times by Ayub Khan and Zia ul Haq. He was against the dictatorship, the feudal system in Pakistan and great supporter of liberty, democracy and Progressive Writers Movement in Pakistan. Due to his revolutionary thoughts he faced severe problems, but he stood constantly against the exploiters and wrote against them. Jalib Beeti is his Autobiography, and it has a keen importance in history of Urdu prose, not due to its literary qualities but keeping in view this piece of work we can easily understand the personality of Habib Jalib. The grounds for his revolutionary thoughts, the problems he faced , the way he thought, could easily be understood in the light of Jalib Beeti. This research article is an effort to Understand Jalib’s personality in the light of his Autobiography.
