A large part of Allama Iqbal’s poetry is considered to be of dramatic nature. As due to the use of dramatic technique, his poetry has adapted the color of drama. Iqbal’s poetry encompasses an extensive range of philosophical thoughts and complicated discourses. In order to make his poetry much readable and interesting, Iqbal used various techniques. Among all these techniques, the technique of drama has played a pivotal role. One of the salient and important features of “Iblees ki majlis e Shoora” is it’s dramatic diction, as the elements like characterization, dialogue, curiosity, dramatic unities and external conflict can easily explain the dramatic nature of this masterpiece of Allama Iqbal. This poem can conveniently be called as a single chapter drama, due to it’s dramatic features and elements. The article under review has two objectives, first to analyze the dramatic technique and it’s method. Second, to trace this contradiction, that although, as a genre of literature, Iqbal always opposed drama, yet why has he used dramatic elements in his poetry very frequently and constantly?
