The literary references to the spread of Islam into the modem north-western Pakistan span the period from when the Caliphs governor of Siestan annexed Qandahar, the Pak-Afghan borderlands and parts of north Waziristan in the early part of the 7th century AD up to the time of Mehmud of Ghazni’s invasions of India in the first quarter of 11th century A.D.
