Abstract

ABSTRACT This review article is an attempt to outline the views and degree of awareness of Urdu poets about environmental problems. By scanning nine major poets and their works, it is concluded that in Urdu poetry environmental issues are framed along urbanization. Urbanization being a direct outcome of colonial era, resulted in change of environment and eventually the human beings. Urdu poets not only presented the actual situation as it is found around them, but also offered the transformationin sensibilities and resulting change in mutual relations of human beings,  as they are affected by environment.
