کوئیر تھیوری کے تناظر میں ناول غبار کا تجزیاتی مطالعہ

Abstract

Atiya Syed is an eminent Urdu novelist who is famous for her talent of storytelling. Her novel, غبار, is one of the best novels which touch upon a non-conventional subject. This research paper delves into the analysis of the novel in the light of the Queer Theory, which is associated with the fourth wave of feminism. Queer Theory diminishes gender-based discrimination in the society by looking into each individual as a unique human being. According to Queer Theory, it is the society which constructs an individual as a male or female. In the light of this perspective, the character of the protagonist, Ali, is analyzed. It has been deduced that first society shapes Ali as a homosexual, and then ridicules him. Through the character of Ali, the novelist criticizes the role of society in constructing   gender-based roles.
