This paper critically examines Mukhtar Masood’s perspective on the personality of Maulana Hasrat Mohani as presented in Awaz-e-Dost. Masood, known for his balanced, scholarly, and insightful approach, evaluates Hasrat Mohani through literary, political, spiritual, and personal lenses. The study highlights Masood’s view that Hasrat was a multidimensional figure who simultaneously excelled in politics, Sufism, and poetry. His resilience during imprisonment, unwavering commitment to truth, and active role in the freedom movement reflect a life of integrity, struggle, and moral courage.Masood’s critique further uncovers Mohani’s deep devotion to religious discipline, his spiritual progression, and his austere personal life. In the realm of poetry, Masood praises Hasrat’s simplicity of language, spontaneous expression, innocent wit, and his successful integration of the Delhi and Lucknow literary traditions.
